Boiler Installation and Mobilization Plan A Success
Energia is proud to highlight the fast-track mobilization plan completed by our client the City of Waterbury, the selected energy services company Noresco, and our Energia Team in installing 31 boilers in a SINGLE summer window.
A total of 23 steam boilers and 8 hot water boilers were installed, commissioned and operational in Waterbury, Connecticut’s school and city buildings before the official start of the 2017-2018 heating season. All were aged heating systems, some in danger of failing while others were no longer fully operational.
The completed work, over one summer window, not only consisted of the installation of these boilers but included extensive asbestos abatement work, steam trap repairs, pumps and condensate tanks and complete removal of the old boilers.
Energia is the Owner’s Representative and Technical Liaison for the City of Waterbury’s $28.6 million Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC). We are proud of the teamwork that was needed to successfully install the boilers prior to the students’ arrival from summer break and are happy to report that they have been working impeccably throughout this chilly winter season.
- One of the rewards of completing this work prior to the end of 2017 was additional energy rebates from Eversource.
- The $3,000,000+ rebate granted to the project was partially awarded as the result of the significant amount of boiler upgrades performed.
- Another advantage of the efficient completion of the work is the annual energy thermal reduction they will benefit from this winter season, an estimated 157,000+ CCF, reduced by the new steam and hot water boilers.
- With all Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) included, Waterbury is on track to save $1.7 MILLION in ANNUAL ENERGY SAVINGS!
