Energia Works with Long Island Public School District to Create a Bright Energy Future for Students and Educators
AS SEEN IN RETROFIT MAGAZINE SEPT./OCT. 2022
The average age of a public-school building in the U.S. is 42 years, and with close to 100,000 public K-12 schools in the U.S., most are in need of maintenance, and many are in need of a solid retrofit. In his article in Retrofit Magazine, David M. Newman, PE, CEM, LEED-AP, CEA, Vice President of Engineering, Energia, explains how Energia worked with the Commack, NY School District to engage in an Energy Performance Contract (EPC) that enabled them to leverage their trapped energy costs to finance much-needed retrofits to their facilities. The entire project for Commack Union Free School District resulted in $25 million in annual savings over an 18-year term with $6.3 million in additional cash flow. Now that’s an A+ investment!
