Running a school district means juggling budgets, facility efficiency, and sustainability goals. At Energia, we partner with districts to simplify these challenges, offering guidance every step of the way.
Our team provides expertise in energy engineering, design, and project delivery, serving as a trusted Technical Owner’s Representative to keep projects on track, on budget, and aligned with district priorities. We also integrate renewable energy solutions, including solar, to help schools reduce costs while advancing sustainability initiatives.
From Phase III to Phase IV: Kings Park Maximizes Energy Savings

Energia’s ongoing partnership with Kings Park Central School District shows that even after completing multiple Energy Performance Contracts, significant energy savings remain untapped.
In Phase III, Energia helped the district identify next-level opportunities including a solar PV walkway canopy, oil-to-gas conversions, boiler upgrades, and advanced building management optimizations, unlocking $330K in annual savings and funding a $6.37M project.
Phase IV will expand solar PV and high-efficiency boilers, further reducing energy costs by 62% and continuing the district’s long-term commitment to sustainable, cost-effective facility improvements.

NYS Classroom Temperature Law: What Schools Need To Know
New NYS Classroom Temperature Law Takes Effect September 2025
This school year, all New York public schools must comply with new classroom temperature thresholds:
-
82°F: Schools must take action to reduce heat.
-
88°F: Spaces cannot be occupied; relocation to cooler areas is required when practicable.
Why it matters: This legislation affects operations, facilities, and student well-being.
In our latest article, CEO Kendra McQuilton breaks down compliance requirements and how Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) can deliver long-term, cost-effective solutions like HVAC upgrades, improved ventilation, and building envelope improvements.
Energia also offers a free pre-recorded webinar featuring David Newman, VP of Engineering, outlining practical steps for compliance. Registration required.
Looming ITC Deadline: Solar Projects
Act Now to Protect Investment Tax Credit (ITC) Eligibility

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) introduces new deadlines for construction and foreign material compliance for solar PV projects. Timing is critical for municipalities and school districts.
Energia guides clients through every step: planning strategically to meet deadlines for large-scale installations, including carports, ground mounts, and municipal projects.
