Energia and the Kings Park Central School District embarked on a third energy performance contract. Having completed two previous projects, the district was familiar with the potential benefits and opportunities that the energy performance contract concept presented to the district. However, the previous projects did not have sufficient savings to address their full list of needs and goals in the district facilities. The Energia team worked with the district staff to identify additional savings opportunities beyond what had previously been implemented such as plug load controls, oil-Gas conversions and solar PV. The district had previously investigated solar PV opportunities, but by working with Energia and leveraging our expertise the district is now moving forward with large scale solar PV systems on roofs and new canopy installations.

The Energia Team worked with the district to design a solar walkway canopy – a perfect example of the creativity and customized problem solving.

The major highlight of this project is the installation of a solar PV walkway canopy system at the entrance of the William T. Rogers Middle School. This system was designed to solve a major problem for the MS. On rainy days, students, parents, and other building visitors currently have a long walk from the parking lot to the main entrance of the building. The Energia team worked with the district to design a solar walkway canopy that will provide coverage to building visitors going forward during inclement weather conditions, while also generating annual energy savings for the district. This serves as a perfect example of the creativity and customized problem solving that the Energia team brings to our customers when we develop an EPC for our clients.
