PROJECT OVERVIEW
Energia was engaged with the town and school district of East Haven, CT to provide Owner’s Representative services for their town-wide Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC). The Energia team worked with a multidisciplinary team from both the town and school district who had expertise in finance, legal, facilities, and engineering. Our team guided the town through the preliminary identification of the opportunity, the request for proposals phase, and ultimately the development / implementation of the scope of work. Along the way, Energia presented to the Town Council, Board of Education, and various other committees to communicate the fantastic benefits of this opportunity. Energia answered questions from both the staff and community members to ensure all stakeholders understood the benefits.
HIGHLIGHTS
Energia’s expertise as East Haven’s Owner’s Representative resulted in receiving $1 million in rebates – enough funding for major capital upgrades.
The local utilities in Connecticut provide extremely lucrative rebate programs. A major goal from the beginning of this project was to maximize the rebates for the ESPC project. During the development phase, Energia and the ESCO worked together to deliver on this goal and originally estimated approximately $600,000. Through the customization of the scope and by applying our expertise, the town recently was informed that they would be receiving the maximum $1 million in rebates from the local utilities. These additional resources assisted in the funding of major capital upgrades to the heating systems across various town and school district facilities.
