NEWBURGH, NY

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Mount Saint Mary College (MSMC) employed a wide variety of energy conservation measures for this initiative. The College was able to fund major capital improvements through the implementation of: lighting, motor upgrades, the integration of MSMC’s HVAC end devices into the College’s Energy Management System, the sealing of the building envelope, and the insulating of bare pipes and valves.

The major improvement focused on boiler plant upgrades at Kaplan Hall, Bishop Dunn School, and Aquinas Hall. The College also funded the replacement of the failing PoolPak Dehumidification Units and Gymnasium Heating and Ventilation units at the Kaplan Hall facility.

This scope was developed to focus heavily on improving the deferred capital upgrades that were needed throughout the Campus facilities.

HIGHLIGHTS

Fast-Tracking the Boiler Design/ Upgrade Process

Energia coordinated energy auditing and design schedules with Danforth and MSMC to ensure that the facility received the critical boiler upgrades that were a top priority for the MSMC facility operators.

In order to do so, the Energia Group fast-tracked the design, permitting, and approval processes, so that Danforth could begin installation and complete the commissioning process before the winter of 2017/2018. Energia regularly discusses these types of goals with our clients during project development to ensure the project is a success for all stakeholders and critical upgrades are implemented when they are most needed.

Examples of Energy Conservation Measures:
  • Boiler/Domestic Hot Water Heater Replacements
  • Split Air Conditioning Unit Replacements
  • Demand Control Ventilation
  • PoolPak Replacements
  • Premium Efficiency Motor for Pool Filter Pump
